How Our Drum Magnet Works
The operation of our magnetic drum separator is fully automatic and designed for 24/7 continuous duty. The machine consists of a stationary internal semi-circular magnetic arc, surrounded by a rotating outer drum shell made of heavy-duty stainless steel.
As the bulk material is fed evenly onto the top of the rotating drum, the non-magnetic product flows naturally over the shell and falls straight down in a normal trajectory into an accepted material chute. However, the ferrous metals are instantly attracted by the stationary magnetic arc inside. These metals are held tightly against the rotating shell and carried underneath to the back of the drum. Once the shell rotates past the internal magnetic field, the tramp iron is released and drops safely into a separate reject bin.
